TURKEY

March 29th 2006

I was six months old when I saw my first total solar eclipse so of course I don’t remember anything at all. I still like the thought that I was in the moon shadow for that eclipse! It is also quite cool to know that this eclipse will repeat in the US/Mexico next year, on April 8th, when I am 18 years old as a whole saros would have lapsed.

NB: in theory I was also in the moon shadow in 2005, on board the Paul Gauguin ship, but in my mum’s womb! John Beatie says that it doesn’t count - although my mum did attend all the lectures of astronomy professor Alex Filippenko, so maybe those did get into my subconscious!
